On Planet Ark Day, Marulan & District Progress Association and seven other committees and clubs all agreed to buy grevilleas, then gathered at the HASP land entrance in George St and planted them along the fence to eventually make a beautiful entrance.

The Association is working with the Meijbaums on the Meridian Arch. The fibreglass ‘world’ is complete and now at the sculptors, to be installed with the mosaic by October, it is hoped. The cost of $12,000 is shared between the Association, the Meijbaums and Holcim Trust.
A history of the saga of the town clock, donated by the Lions Club in 1990, has been prepared for the historical magazine. Now there is a further installment since the clock face was blown down by the high winds a few weeks ago. The Mayor is arranging its repair.

ISLAMIC CEMETERY
The Al-Mabarrat Society still has not supplied requested information to the Land and Environment Court about the proposed Islamic cemetery off Highlands Way. The Court has determined to give the Society an extension until September 2, with heritage information to be supplied by October 7.
From September 8, the council will place all available materials on public exhibition for 28 days and receive submissions up to October 6. The council is frustrated with delays, but willing to comply with court-delivered instructions.
COUNCIL CLEAN-UP
Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s clean-up is on again from August 29 to September 2. Residents are asked to put out waste for collection the day prior to normal collection. Items should be easily lifted by two and in piles no more than two cubic metres. Tyres, mattresses, fridges and air conditioners will not be collected.
HISTORICAL AGM
The annual general meeting of the Marulan & District Historical Society will be held on their meeting day in September with all executive positions open for nomination. Members are also reminded that annual fees are due that day. Details: 4841 0288.
CWA MEMBERSHIP
This is the year of Mongolia for the national CWA, so the local CWA is organising a day (September 3) to watch the classic 1956 movie ‘The Conqueror’, starring John Wayne as Genghis Khan, with a devonshire tea, raffle and lucky door prizes. All are welcome! Next meeting: September 20, 1pm.
