Mrs Esson has been at the Post for the past 18 years, firstly as a sales representative, then as sales manager, then as general manager of the Goulburn Post. She then became group manager of all of the newspapers in Bowral, Goulburn, Braidwood, Cooma, Yass and Queanbeyan as well as the Snowy Times.
During that time she has seen much change and has been respected by all staff and customers as a great boss.
A farewell morning tea was held for her on Friday, which at times became emotional as various staff paid their personal tributes to her.
She thanked everyone and responded succinctly.
“I will miss the hell out of the place, but I think it is time I make this move,” Mrs Esson said.
“Thank you for making the past 18 years worth it all. I actually love the stress of the place. I used to wander in and think ‘today will be an easier day’ but it never was and after a while I stopped thinking that. I just accepted that in this job anything can happen on any day – and that is part of what I loved about it. I have enjoyed my time here very much, thank you.”
Mrs Esson is heading off on an overseas adventure, taking in Cuba, the United States, New Mexico and Europe, but apart from this world-wide tour, she said she would remain in Goulburn.
“I’ll still be around, so say hello,” she said.
