Politics in Pub leaves a sour taste for candidate
I refer to the letter to the editor by Nicholas Calleja (GP 14/9) criticising me and two other candidates in the Council election for our views on climate change and global warming at the 'Politics in the Pub' gathering on August 29.

Mr Calleja was supposed to be the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the evening. His blatant bias as MC along with an audience stacked with extreme greenies showing zero tolerance of anyone who didn't agree with their views was quite obvious. I can see why The Greens have become known as watermelons.
An MC is supposed to be a neutral person guiding and moderating the progress of an event. Mr Calleja is not, as demonstrated by his written spray in The Goulburn Post and his conduct on the evening of August 29. He should not be allowed to MC an event ever again.
I can see why only half the candidates for the council election bothered attending this event. I should have heeded the advice of some other candidates not to bother attending.
Mr Calleja should take notice how Anne Muir conducted the 'Meet the Candidates' evening at the Workers Club on September 7. That is how an MC should professionally behave.
For the record, I commented that the earth has moved in and out of various climate cycles over thousands and millions of years and any current climate change can only be partially attributable to the activities of man, in particular growing world population and consequent demand on food and resources. Climate change is not caused entirely by man as implied by extreme green groups.
I won't be attending any Politics in the Pub events ever again and I recommend other fine citizens of Goulburn don't bother attending either.

Same-sex marriage ‘defies’ God’s grand plan
I must state form the outset that I am a Bible believing heterosexual happily married man.
There are several matters that need to be addressed in the current flood of commentary regarding the LGBTI community in general and the same-sex marriage issue in particular.
Jewish people are warned against homosexuality in the Torah (their Bible) as being an abomination to God. For Bible believing Christians and adherents to the doctrine of Islam, homosexuality is also an abomination to their respective deities. It is an un-natural human activity, contrary to God’s original plan for procreation and the mutual pleasure of a male and his female partner/spouse.
Concerning same-sex couples of either persuasion wishing to raise a child, they always need a male and a female contributor. If God had intended otherwise, why go to the bother of creating a woman in the first instance to be a support and helper for the man and the source of the female ova, or two women (needing the male sperm) rather than one of each clearly identifiable different beings and roles?
So why all the noise from a minor percentage of the population? Or is the momentum coming from those politicians who are responding to a minority of their constituents?
Then we have some politicians claiming the plebiscite would create hatred in the community.
Opponents of the plebiscite claim the cost cannot be justified. If they wish to curb Government expenditure why don’t they cancel the extra privileges granted to retired/sacked Prime Ministers? That would save many millions of dollars!
I don’t despise people of the LGBTI community. With the love of Jesus Christ I wish that they could enjoy their sexuality as God intended it to be.
