The school community will come together for a whole day of activities, fun and presentations to take a look back at the school’s rich history.
Tucked between Goulburn and Canberra, the school is surrounded by picturesque beauty.
Events on the day will include market stalls, old-fashioned fun and games, historic static displays, a guided town tour, a picket fence signing and a dance performance
There will also be entertainment on Saturday night with a dinner at the Collector Memorial Hall open to past and present students, families and the whole community.
The dinner will feature trivia, a live performance and an auction of signed jerseys.
A video of four generations of students will also be on display, illustrating stories from Collector’s past.
But this day is more than just Collector Public School: it’s a whole community effort.
A range of local businesses, including a photographer, will be joining in on the school’s celebration.
The anniversary, which has taken months of planning, is something the whole school and community is excited about, said Collector Public School principal Mark Wyatt.
“This is a huge community effort and we’re excited to share our history with our students and the town,” Mr Wyatt said.
“We have a rich history and we invite old students, families, friends and the whole community to come and join in on the celebrations.”
Collector Public School was built in 1866, and was re-built in 1915. The school is now home to 28 students with a range of unique subjects.
Sarah Coloe, one of the event organisers, said some students were at first nervous about the day. “I told them, you only turn 150 once and it changed their perspective,” she said. “They are very excited and have committed a lot to the day.”
