It would streamline and improve patient care by having all clinicians, health staff and patients located on one health campus, she said.
“There are no job losses as part of the consolidation and no services will be cut,” Ms Goward said in a prepared statement on Friday.
“This has been confirmed to me in discussion with the chief executive officer of the LHD, Janet Compton. I will be seeking further discussions with the site’s owners, St John of God, about future use of the site and the hydrotherapy pool.”
“The LHD did not advise or consult with me and I only became aware of this proposal after the staff had been advised of this decision.
“I look forward to working with the community and the owners of St John of God about the future use of this site, including the hydrotherapy pool. The community will have access to the same services.”
