Its citizens have always risen to the challenges the city has had to face.
Someone from the community has come forward and led the charge when we are under threat.
However, what we are facing now is the biggest threat to our city since it was settled.
The dismantling of Goulburn by stealth, by privatisation, by this government right before our eyes, aided and abetted by the now Local Member (for) against Goulburn.
We need to raise an army to defend our city from this onslaught. And defend it we must or suffer the consequences.
Before we realise it, the city will have nothing to offer our young and will further decline.
Where is the fight against the greyhound racing ban in Goulburn? We can overturn this unpopular decision. Look at the infrastructure invested in greyhound racing in Goulburn. An industry worth over $10 million to Goulburn annually let alone the human cost.
The hospital con sickens me to the core. The dismantling of our hospital services has caused disturbances at local cemeteries in the past week with distinguished local men and women turning in their graves who dedicated their lives to building the city that serves us so well today, dismayed at the dismantling and selling off our community owned assets by this Liberal government.
You were warned before the last election but our Member against Goulburn denied it, then it is revealed in the local paper she has been involved with privatisation discussions with proponents for who knows how long?
Treachery at its best.
Now, I don’t begrudge Wal Ashton wanting to build a private hospital in Goulburn. I hope he makes a lot of profit from it. But it shouldn’t be at the expense of losing our public Base Hospital status and accompanying services and job security.
If we let them get away with it, it will embolden them to continue down this path.
Your voice matters: don’t let them demolish our city. It has a wonderful future building on the great services we have become familiar with.
Continue the fight with our jail, our trains, our women’s refuge. There are no shortages of targets for them if left to their own devices.

Please explain State thinking
I confess to being confused by our State Government’s current decisions.
After reading the Goulburn Post on Wednesday, September 7, I note on page 2 that they are persisting in removing 10 teaching positions from the Goulburn jail.
Then on page 3, I read that they are allocating $237 million for rehabilitation and to reduce re-offending!
Surely some of this $237m could be allocated to those teacher’s wages.
After all, education is the key to being usefully employed and contributing to society.
Would the State Government please explain.

Politics in the Pub
In reply to Mr McDonald's kind letter of last week: Politics in the Pub members take it in turn who is the emcee on the night plus we often have outside guests. The audience is on average balanced. Having a Greens candidate did attract a more Green leaning audience on the night in question.
To clarify on the night we passed SMS messages internally during the panel to bring discussions back to topics other than climate change and Nick did his best to wrangle questions from the floor. In terms of Nick's own personal 'bias', Tony Jones is a good example on Q&A when he rephrases things appearing biased and Nick is still learning. I think it’s important to remember that this is a volunteer event with no funding that is run for the community.
