Walk to Work Day is an annual fundraising event which encourages employees and employers to walk to work and raise awareness on healthy living.
Organised by Diabetes Australia, participants can be sponsored by family and friends with the goal of establishing a healthy well being and lifestyle in and outside of work.
MP Pru Goward has called on Goulburnians to walk to work on October 7 and incorporate a healthy lifestyle into daily routine.
“Australian’s are living longer and chronic diseases such as diabetes are on the rise so it is vital we make exercise and good nutrition a part of our daily lives,” MP Goward said.
“One idea might be to hop off public transport earlier or park the care a bit further away from work so you can get a few extra minutes of walking into your day.”
Around $5000 has been raised by Diabetes Australia for Walk to Work Day with a total goal of $10,000 set.
