Goulburn Mulwaree Councillors, Brewster Hjorth Architects and the Performing Arts Centre working party discussed future plans and the renovation of the McDermott Centre at an open workshop.
Council management presented a financial feasibility study and estimated cost of the project.
“We are incredible excited by the presentations and concept images presented on Thursday night,” Mayor Bob Kirk said.
“Council will now make an important decision that will enable us to deliver a Performing Arts Centre our community can be proud of for the next 100 years.”
A full report will be presented to council on October 18. The report will require councillors to make recommendations on the number of seats and money for the project.
The Performing Arts Centre working party members have regularly corresponded with the architects since June. Their conversations have led to two concept designs - one with around 300 seats and one with 400 seats.
Brewster Hjorth Architects will provide a detailed design after council has made a decision.
