Operations director Matt O’Rourke has recommended the $2,524,500 tender from Bridgeworks (Aust) Pty Ltd be accepted.
His report states the budget allocation for the Komungla Bridge construction project was $2,600,000, to be partially funded (50 per cent) under the Bridge Renewal Program.
“The tendered amount of $2,524,500 is within available funds for the project,” the report states.
The previously demolished timber structure over the Mulwaree River at Currawang will be reinstated with a new concrete structure of about 100 metres in length.
The new bridge will withstand one in 20-year flood events.
Road works will also be carried out on the approaches to improve transitions to the existing road network.
Residents have long-lobbied for the bridge’s replacement.
