Referring to the discussions held at Politics in the Pub on Monday night, Ms Goward said she stated her case for going down the road of an expression of interest (EOI).
“As I kept on saying, if we don’t come up with better services for our patients then we don’t go ahead,” she said during the interview.
“There are some limitations; it’s only a 90-bed hospital and maybe we’re not attractive to private investors, or maybe, the private investors that would be interested would take too much.”
She said the Local Health District (LHD) “grossly underestimated” the proposal and highlighted the problems in parking spaces.
“I think the parking alone will make transferring the patients very difficult,” she said. “My job is to press the department. [It’s] something I have to keep pursuing.”
