The project will cost an estimated $25,603,521 and allow sewer discharge to meet modern day environmental standards and future population growth.
Councillors approved the tender at Tuesday’s council meeting.
“(This will) achieve fantastic environmental outcomes including the ability to provide and reuse product for irrigation on sporting fields and parkland,” Mayor Bob Kirk said.
A $10 million Federal Grant was provided by National Stronger Regions Fund in 2015. A further $25 million was allocated in council’s operational plans between 2016-2018 financial years.
The council received seven tenders for the work.
