Goulburn’s number one side played some impressive games on Friday and Saturday to finish second in their pool, behind Illawarra in the NSW Men’s Indoor Hockey Championships at the Veolia Arena and Basketball Stadium over the weekend.
On Friday Hockey Australia and Hockey NSW officials inspected the two indoor hockey rinks, constructed in the buildings.
Local hockey officials said the state and national representatives seemed quite impressed with the venues Goulburn had provided.
The division one competition was played the rink that ran the length of the Veolia Arena, which had spectator seating down one side for the large crowd that gathered for most games.
The division two games, except the grand final were played on a rink running the length of court two in the basketball stadium and across court three.
While Goulburn’s division two team finished down the ladder in their pool, the division one team needed to beat West Metro in the two versus one crossover game on Sunday morning to play in final. This was not to be.
