About 75 representatives of the Hepburn, Martin, McGiness and Belgrove families lunched together and swapped stories about old times.
“They are all the descendants of Francis (b 1888) and Elsie Belgrove (nee Hincksman, b 1887),” Ian Martin said.
“Gwen, Kate and Betty are their children. I have traced the line back to Richard Belgrove, who was born in Middlesex in 1808 and apparently transported to Australia for stealing a coffee mill.”
He said the families try to get together every four years in Goulburn.
Betty’s daughter, Kathryn Hepburn said the families had remained very close, despite distance.
“What made the day really special was that some long-lost cousins also turned up. Some of whom, I have not seen since I was a child,” Kathryn Hepburn said.
People came from as far away as Brisbane, Northern NSW and the Central Coast.
