Southern NSW Local Health District project leader Kerry Hort said the sessions will help people understand various phases of the project and encouraged people to attend.
“Over 2000 pages of plans, design and related documents have so far formed the foundation for the redevelopment and further detailed work lies ahead,” Ms Hort said.
“So far this year over 700 people have attended various public presentations that have been organised for staff and a range of community groups in the Goulburn region.”
Community consultation committee chair Jason Shepherd said he was happy the LHD has decided to organise and support the public consultations.
“People who attend will understand the process. Right now there is a lot of misunderstanding,” Mr Shepherd said.
Development plans for Goulburn Base Hospital were collated by the LHD prior to the earlier expressions of interest, but were only open to specific community groups and stake holders.
“Now it’s open to the whole public,” he said. “The community consultation committee hopes the same consultation is also organised for Bourke Street Health Service.”
Goulburn Base Hospital is expected to be completed in late 2021/ early 2022.
The LHD revealed the redevelopment will include:
- Emergency department, including main entry and hospital reception
- Intensive care unit
- Perioperative, theatres, day surgery unit, recovery, pre-admission, sterilisation
- Medical imaging
- Medical, surgical, paediatric and geriatric inpatient units
- Maternity and birthing
The session will run from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on December 5 and between 10am and 12pm on December 6. Both sessions will be held at the Goulburn Mulwaree Library.
