It all started on October 31 when 17 members took part in the epic Sri Chinmoy Triple Triathlon in Canberra .
This event pits competitors against all the major peaks in Canberra (running and Mountain Biking) as well as swims through Lakes Burley Griffin and Tuggeranong in a punishing 10hr test of endurance.
The Goulburn Members were divided into two teams, the Giant 440 Woodies #4Pete (8 members) and the newly formed Buzz Lightyears, which included four teenage girls in the Mixed Teams division.
After more than 13 years of trying, the Giant 440 Woodies at last tasted victory, winning the Open Teams event by a meagre two minutes.
This result was even more impressive considering anchor runner Stefan Hese entered the last leg of the race trailing by almost 3 minutes.
The team immediately dedicated the victory to the late Peter Oberg, who was both an enthusiastic and integral member of the team, until his tragic passing in 2014 and had been seeking this result since day one.
The victory was never sealed until late in the day though, with the Woodies first having to reel in the Buzz Lightyears, who entered the penultimate leg of the race (a 24km Mountain Bike) with a seemingly insurmountable lead of 13 minutes.
After being reeled in (thanks to an outstanding ride by Mick Beard), the Lightyears had to settle for third place in the Mixed teams event and 10th overall.
Other outstanding results from November were recorded by Olivia Stutchbury and Kurt Warn who recorded outright victories in the Pearl Izumi Quarter Marathon in Bundanoon (10.5km) and the Bowral Parkrun (5km).
Olivia also recorded a course record winning the Orange Park Run on Nov 19.
Nik Christen (1st in age group) and Charlie McCormack (3rd in age group) also graced the podium at Bundanoon, with fellow Goulburnites Tony and Danae Vitnell and Netti Pattison enjoying the rugged terrain but outstanding views the race provided.
Meanwhile, back in Goulburn, the weekly aquathon series has continued on Tuesday nights with the TTH industries round 3 and RSM round 4 events being run over the last fortnight.
Racing has been steady with some improvement over this time, but the warmer weather experienced in round 4 event saw many athletes drop off just a little.
There were some though, that bucked this trend recording PBs despite the warmth including Violet Ottley, Jackson Boyt, James and Isaac Quade, Olivia Stutchbury and Danny Nicholls all of whom recorded season best times by over one minute.
Racing will continue on Tuesday nights at 6pm, with the club only pausing for two weeks over the Xmas - New Year break.
