Around 10 people attended the session housed at Workspace2580 in Goulburn on Wednesday night.
“We are hoping to build interest and get as many hands on deck,” Ms Hudson said. “We want to hit the road running and get those pledges signed.”
Aiming to collect 10,000 pledges across the state, Cancer Council NSW hopes Goulburn can provide 1,000 of those signatures.
The group eventually plans to approach Goulburn MP Pru Goward after the pledges have been collected.
“We want to try and make a difference so when we do go meet MP Pru Goward she will know this is an important issue for the community,” she said.
“We are approaching MP’s across the state, and we want her to sign the pledge herself.”
Headed by Cancer Council NSW, the I Care for Palliative Care campaign is pushing for NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner to better match palliative services and staff.
About 250 pledges have been collected in Goulburn so far.
The action group plans to spread the word through local networks and stalls at future events.
Pledges can be made electronically via the CanAct website or via our local CanAct volunteer Kath Luck who runs the Facebook page.
