Local Land Services and the Department of Primary Industries are facilitating the assistance for “substantially affected properties” in the Mount Fairy and Sutton areas.
The Currandooley blaze burnt 3385 hectares, while the Sutton fire destroyed 524ha.
Local Land Services acting local manager, Goulburn region Annelies McGaw said both agencies wanted to support “a positive animal welfare outcome.”
The emergency provision is the equivalent to livestock requirements for three days,” she said.
Affected landholders need to contact Local Land Services Goulburn office with the following information: Name and contact details, full rural address of affected property, size of property, indication of the area burnt, number of stock requiring fodder and the type of livestock. It does not cover domestic animals or poultry.
“We have also been contacted by landholders wanting to donate emergency fodder and transport to those affected, once again demonstrating the resilience of rural communities and how we join together in difficult times,” Ms McGaw said.
“We encourage anyone wishing to make a contribution to get in touch with the Goulburn office. These donations will supplement the fodder made available via the emergency provisions.”
Local Land Services District veterinarians are available to conduct animal welfare assessments for animals that have been affected by the fire.
In order to further assist and understand the fire’s impact, Local Land Services encourages landholders to report damages and stock losses. Contact them at the Goulburn Office on 4824 1900 for further details.
