About 7.15pm, emergency services were called to the Hume Motorway at Berrima, following reports a vehicle had left the road and rolled in grassland.
The driver, a 34-year-old woman, was trapped for about an hour before NSW SES Wingecarribee Unit crews removed the side doors of the car and extracted the woman. They were assisted by NSW Ambulance teams and Berrima Rural Fire Service before she was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital.
A 7-year-old girl was assisted out of the car and airlifted to The Children’s Hospital, Westmead.
Officers from The Hume Local Area Command with assistance from the Crash Investigations Unit are at the scene and will investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident.

9.20pm: One of two south-bound lanes has reopened. Traffic is heavy and people are advised to avoid the area.
One of two north-bound lanes is also open.
8.55pm: One of two north-bound lanes has reopened. Both south-bound lanes remained closed.
8.45pm: The Hume Motorway is now closed in both directions.
8.30pm: A NSW Police Media spokeswoman said police responded to a single vehicle crash on the Hume Motorway, near Berrima, at about 7.15am on Tuesday.
“The vehicle left the road and flipped,” she said.
“The female driver has been assisted out of the vehicle and there was also a child in the car.
“They are believed to not have any life-threatening injuries.”
8:20pm: A person is trapped and the south-bound lanes of the Hume Motorway are closed.
One of two north-bound lanes is also closed.
Emergency services were called to the Hume Motorway, near Berrima, at about 7.30pm on January 26.
A helicopter has landed at the scene, where emergency services are working to free a trapped person.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Drivers can use the Old Hume Highway and the Illawarra Highway as alternate routes.
