GOULBURN: Five strike teams from the Southern Tablelands rural fire zone have scrambled to help battle the Carwoola blaze.
The fire broke out east of Queanbeyan about lunchtime Friday and raced quickly to Carwoola and then toward Hoskinstown and Rossi. Read more.
QUEANBEYAN: A Carwoola resident described the aftermath of the fire as "like a war zone", as residents returned to their homes on Saturday to survey the damage for the first time.
The Lindley family was lucky to escape with their lives, their home of 19 years was burnt to the ground. Read more.
YASS: Shock and sadness hung heavily over Gunning locals as they trickled into town on Friday morning.
Former Upper Lachlan Shire Mayor John Shaw was among them, taking in news that good friends, Anne (known as Annie) and Andrew Basnett and Andrew’s brother, Richard had died in tragic circumstances the night before. Read more.
SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS: A woman has fallen more than six metres at Belmore Falls.
At about 4pm on Sunday emergency services responded to reports a 28-year-old woman had fallen at Belmore Falls in Robertson.
It appears she suffered a drop of more than six metres, hitting rocks at the bottom. Read more.
CROOKWELL: The fire which started on the Thalaba property, crossed the Peelwood Road onto a neighbouring property where it was contained. The fire believed to have been started by a lightning strike was responded to very quickly by the RFS units.
The grass fire burnt approximately 29 hectares and 14 fire trucks from local brigades attended. Read more.

Captains Flat Road, between Widgiewa Road and Hoskinstown Road, is closed in both directions due to a fire at Carwoola, 10 kilometres from Queanbeyan.
