The Lieder will perform it at the Goulburn Club, opening on Wednesday March 15 at 7.30pm.
Lieder artistic director Chrisjohn Hancock said Twelfth Night is full of famous sayings that have kept us entertained for the past 400 years.
“Written in 1599 just before Shakespeare wrote his most famous play Hamlet, Twelfth Night explores the many faces of love,” Mr Hancock said.
“It is also a play of mistaken identities and misplaced love. The Duke loves Lady Olivia, Olivia loves Cesario, Viola loves the Duke, Sebastian loves Olivia, and so does Malvolio. Antonio loves Sebastian, Sir Toby loves Maria, and Sir Andrew was adored once, but can’t quite remember when.
“Twelfth Night is also full of music beautifully created by Marianne Powles and sung by Blake Selmes who plays the clown Feste.
“If music be the food of love, play on” says the Duke at the opening of the play, and so they do. The story is full of songs, dances and music, thanks to Marianne Powles.”
The beautiful costumes for Twelfth Night have been designed and arranged by Pauline J Mullen assisted by Christine Bentley. The show is being stage-managed by Amelia Whalley-Routley.
Twelfth Night presents a cast of Lieder regulars including Erin Williams, Ryan Paranthoiene, Steve Routley, Roger Feltham, Anne Gaul, Blake Selmes, Annie Foley, Ethan Betts, Harrison Treble, Jock Mclean, Linden Fennamore, Lachie Edwards, Evan Goad, Dan Buma and Jack Bell.
It opens on Wednesday, March 15 at 7.30pm at the Goulburn Club and runs most Friday, Saturdays and Wednesdays until April 1. There will be 4pm matinees on Sunday march 19 and 26.
