It was another great evening for racing with 20 riders signing on to compete for valuable points in the Championship series. Starting in the village riders headed out over the Breadalbane Plain and up the Cullerin Range to the rail bridge at the summit before turning around and heading back to complete the 24km course.
Cameron Roberts took out A Grade for the second week in a row time trialling the whole way and posting a time of 35 minutes 21 seconds at 39km/hr. Jason Pattison, Gavin Moroney, Michael Beard and Phil Champion combined to string out the B Grade field in the final 5kms to the finish line. Gavin Moroney managed to out fox sprint specialist Phil Champion flashing home to win by the narrowest of margins with Michael Beard not far behind in third place
Another close finish in C Grade with Nadine Moroney edging out Garry Sheehy followed by Shannon Apps. Ted Goad took out D Grade again but this week was pushed all the way by Annette Pattison and Tony Wade. Annette finished second while Tony faded in the final kilometre to finish third.
Big thank you to the volunteers – Mrs Bush, Phil, Adam, Anthony, Fiona, Mick, Alan and Glen.
Next Wednesday evening racing is at Breadalbane again for the final round of the Club Championships. Sign on is at 6pm at the church. Racing starts at 6.30pm. New riders are welcome.
