Just over 1,300 residents were affected between 2am and 4am.
Crews responded to the outage, which was caused by a fault in the local electricity network.
“Attending crews identified third party contact with the underground electricity network at the corner of Clinton and Bourke streets,” the spokesperson said.
“Crews isolated the damaged section of network and re-routed power to safely restore supply to all customers.”
The company have five planned outages across Goulburn today affecting 231 customers in parts of Towrang, Brayton, Kingsdale, Wayo, Baw Baw, Mount Fairy, Boro, Currawang, Tarago, Wollogorang and Yarra.
“Power outages are required to allow crews to carry out necessary maintenance of the electricity network including replacing cross arms, insulating devices and upgrading electrical equipment to secure a safe and reliable power supply,” the spokesperson said.
Local teams have been assisted by neighbouring areas to ensure work is completed as quickly as possible.
Essential Energy provided customers notice prior to the planned outage.
