Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous local donor, the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium (also known as The Music Place - Goulburn) now has a new scholarship to support a deserving student with potential, who meets the selection criteria.
GRC Director Paul Scott-Williams said the new award entitled the “Child’s Play Scholarship”, covers full lesson fees for a year and provides access to free musicianship training, reduced price music ensembles and concerts, along with plenty of opportunities to perform around the local and regional community.
The first recipient of the Child’s Play Scholarship is Mulwaree High Year Seven student, Malakye Ginn.
“Malakye is studying voice with Robyn Slater and recently experienced his first time working with the internationally famous Gondwana Voices,” Mr Scott-Williams said.
“It is wonderful to be able to support our young students in their musical studies and ambitions and I am so very grateful for the generosity and kindness of the local donor who has decided to make a difference in a deserving student’s life.
“Malakye is a wonderful young man who has worked very hard and deserves every encouragement and support we can provide. Supporting young people in this way has a tangible, real-world outcome and enriches our whole community! I can only encourage more people to do the same.”
Malakye Ginn will be performing regularly throughout the year - check out the GRC website for coming events at www.thegrc.com.au.
