We want to collaborate with the community and local business to develop a Smart City action plan. This plan will examine things like expanded public Wi-Fi, public safety CCTV (Smart Sight), digital signage, LED street lighting (Smart Lighting) and other digital solutions.
We want feedback from the community to help shape this action plan through a new online consultation forum, ‘Your Say Goulburn’. Head to our website to find the link or Google ‘Your Say Goulburn’ to get involved.
Surveys are also available from Customer Service, and we will be holding a public roundtable meeting in early April to discuss the plan.
Budget Preview
I’m continuing to preview the upcoming draft 2017/18 Budget and four-year delivery plan. These projects are included in the draft, and will soon be going out for community consultation:
Aquatic Centre: $16 million has been allocated for Stage 1 of the redevelopment of the Aquatic Centre. These totals are subject to grant applications. This upgrade will include a new indoor pool hall, refurbished existing 25-metre pool, new leisure pools, new change rooms, a cafe and much more!
Library upgrades: For works to extend the library into the Caroline Chisholm Courtyard with seating, shade and more, $80,000 is allocated in 2017/18. Just under $120,000 is allocated to book resources each year within the four-year delivery program.
Gold sponsor
We are seeking a gold sponsor with naming rights for the Mayoral Charity Golf Day. I’d like to thank Holcim for their significant contribution over the past four years. They’ve enabled us to raise nearly $60,000 for local not-for- profit organisations.
If your business is interested in becoming involved in an annual event that is a proven successful fundraiser for local charities please get in touch. Expressions of interest forms are available on our website or from the Civic Centre (184 Bourke Street, Goulburn).
