Junior Cricket Association president Danny Yeadon said on Saturday the youngsters had been able to play only two complete games since resuming after summer holidays. “It has been very disappointing for the players with the weather conditions causing the cancellation or abandonment of play most weekends,” he said.
“It was not only rain, but extreme heat on one Saturday. Then on another we got in about an hour’s play before the games had to be called off because of a thunderstorm and the risk of a lightning strike.”
With grand final positions decided on points awarded throughout the season, the top two teams in each grade played in the grand finals over the weekend.
Crookwell claimed the under-12s win over Wollondilly Green. Wollondilly Gold were convincing winners in the U14 against club mates Wollondilly Green. Crookwell also won the U16 game against Wollondilly in a thriller.
