Goulburn Mulwaree Rotary is hosting the event on Sunday, with stallholders coming from all over Australia.
Club president Grant Pearce said the Meet included “absolutely everything,” from bric-a-brac to antiques, car and motorbike parts and even the “kitchen sink.”
The event is the Club’s main fundraiser for the year and typically attracts up to 10,000 people.
Buyers arrive by 6am opening and trade is “fast and furious” for the first three hours, Mr Pearce said. The Meet will go until about midday.
“We put a lot of money back into the community,” he said.
“Rotary is an organisation in which you can make a difference. We do international campaigns and one of the best examples is Polio Plus, where Rotary is helping to eliminate the condition from the world this year.”
Rotary funds medical teams to administer vaccinations to children. Mr Pearce said it had made a huge difference with just 13 cases worldwide last year compared to thousands 10 years ago.
Within Australia it supports programs in indigenous communities and in Timor, a midwifery campaign to train nurses. Soon it will embark on another, Rotarians Against Malaria.
On Sunday, April 9 the club will cater for another big event, Haulin’ the Hume, a convoy of vintage trucks travelling from Richmond to Yass, stopping for a display at the Recreation Area, as part of a fundraiser.
Mr Pearce said the club was on the lookout for younger members.
