In 1977 Professor Graham Clark worked on the bionic ear for the hearing impaired which progressed to work on the cochlear implant.
The first child fitted with a cochlear implant in the world was in 1997.
A female student supported by RIDBC – vision impaired and hearing disability – fitted with a cochlea implant for hearing graduated with 96.8 per cent in Year 12 and is now studying arts-law at Macquarie University.
RIDBC can be accessed from many sites across Sydney and Australia. A relatively new one has been opened in Deakin ACT.
A delightful arrangement of cupcakes was made and decorated by Rona for the anniversary cake. Mr Rehn blew out the candles.
