“It’s really pleasing to keep the opposition to zero in the game of AFL it’s a massive achievement,” co-coach Brody Willis said.
Overcoming rain in the first two quarters both Sam Bushanan and David Line were kept busy on the back line.
Scoring 6 behinds in the first and second quarter the team took a change oirf tack and focused on accuracy. Thirteen out of the 18 players scored on the day, showcasing the diversity and range of marks made on the field.
Strong at every contest, the Swans starved Molonglo out of possession adopting a running style of play. The lack of a taller side resulted in a greater movement between the players.
Brad Armstrong, who played his first match after breaking his ankle had an impressive game. Man of the match was awarded to Brad Smith and Hamish Copland received runner-up. Willis also described Andrew and Ben Munroe’s performance as promising.
This weekend the Swans will be up against long time rivals Cootamundra Blues who lost to the Swans in the Regional Division Championships in 2015. “Every game is a big game, even if we’re struggling or they are struggling,” Willis said. “We leave it all on the pitch.”
The two have only played each other once last year.
“It will be a close contest I’d imagine. We’re going to try to stick to our game and get a win on the weekend,” he said.
The Swans will verse Cootamundra Blues at Goodhew Park at 2pm on Saturday.
