Up to 2000 people packed into Belmore Park for Goulburn’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service on Tuesday.
Mild weather and only a few drops of rain greeted a solemn crowd there to pay their respects. Goulburn RSL Sub Branch president Gordon Wade hosted proceedings, which were also attended by Mayor Bob Kirk, Goulburn MP Pru Goward, Sub Branch patron Peter Lloyd AC OBE, The Reverend Bob Lindbeck and Owen Davies, representing the Navy.
Mulwaree High School vice-captain Ollie Anable delivered the Dawn Service address, speaking about his great grandfather, David Jones’ service during World War Two and the meaning of sacrifice.
Healthy numbers also thronged to the War Graves section of Goulburn Cemetery for another service. Veterans, participants and family enjoyed a breakfast at the Goulburn Soldiers Club afterward.
