“I am pleased to use this opportunity to come down and have a tour of the station to really appreciate why this upgrade is so essential,” Ms Berejiklian said after inspecting the premises with Goulburn MP Pru Goward.
“Rural and regional NSW is such a critical part to the economic success of NSW.
“My job, and Minister Goward’s job, is to make sure and provide every community with their fair share.
“Not only will you get a new hospital, but a new ambulance station.
“Our investment in regional and rural NSW provides that confidence to people.”
The new station will be funded as part of the $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR), the largest regional transformation for NSW Ambulance in its history.
The Premier also congratulated and thanked the paramedics and volunteers for their work.
“This is a recognition of your efforts,” she said.
“We’re very proud of the work the paramedics do, but it’s time for a new station,” Ms Goward added.
Plans are scheduled for a purpose-built, modern station. The RAIR program will benefit 17 ambulance stations across the state.
NSW Ambulance deputy director of the southern sector Brian White said it was fantastic news the 85-year-old building would be upgraded.
“With the benefit of having a brand-new station and state-of-the-art facilities, it’ll only enhance our ability in the future,” he said.
“It’s a head station for Southern NSW and some amenities are used, their date has come and gone.
“A new station is warranted for Goulburn in conjunction with the new hospital.
“It’s well deserved for our staff.”
Seventeen staff are attached to the Goulburn station on Clifford Street.
Prior to the announcement, Ms Berejiklian attended her first Liberal State Party conference as premier, held at the Soldiers Club.
Guests included Member for Hume Angus Taylor and former Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
