A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a second crash on Tuesday afternoon.
Police and emergency services were called to Carrick Road, some 12km north of Goulburn, between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. They found a woman driving a 4WD had careered off the road into a tree, with the driver’s side taking the full impact.
Cr Andrew Banfield, who attended the scene as an RFS member, said the woman, who lived on Carrick Road, had been driving from Marulan. Traffic had been diverted along the back roads due to an earlier fatal accident on the Hume Highway’s northbound lane, near Winfarthing Road. Both lanes of traffic were affected by the crash.
The woman, who was the car’s only occupant, suffered suspected internal injuries and was airlifted from the scene.
Police remain at the site.
