It was pink balloons, fresh scones and music by Vera Lyn for former Taralga resident Hilma Biddle who marked her 102 birthday in Goulburn on Tuesday morning.

The Warrigal community room was filled with friends and family who rehashed Ms Biddle’s accomplished life.
Born the same day Italy declared war on Austria-Hungary, as a woman Ms Biddle enlisted as a sergeant for the Land Army in WW2.
Husband Ken, who was seen holding his wife’s hand throughout the proceedings, said the two met at Central Station in Sydney as part of a bush walking club.
Living a few streets apart the two soon stopped dating after they realised a variance in each others age.
“Our relationship was too strong,” the 92-year-old said. “It was a little unusual but we had a wonderful marriage. We worked together very well.”
Daughters Pauline and Ann were also present.
“She is a caring person who only has praise for others,” Ann said.
