Animals that have been found wandering by rangers and placed at the Companion Animal Facility – the pound – face an uncertain future.
Coordinator of the Goulburn service Brooke White said pets available for adoption include: puppies, kittens, dogs and cats.
“We will have large and small breed dogs of varying ages and breeds available as well as a large selection of cats and kittens,” Ms White said.
“All pets come with vaccinations, a microchip, de-sexed, and up to date on worm and flea treatments. Adoptions fees do apply and will vary between animals.” There will also be face painting and a balloon artist on the day.
“If you would like to adopt a pet, there is an adoption fee of $225 for cats and $425 for dogs, but this covers de-sexing, micro-chipping and flea treatment and any other medical treatment that is required for the animals.”
She said fostering animals was just one way people could help.
“People can also give of their time for dog walking, puppy training, assisting with fundraising activities, photographing new arrivals, bathing and grooming and short-term pet-minding so the volunteers can have a break,” she said.
Pet Adoption Day will be held at Pets Domain, opposite the Big Merino on Hume Street.
