The Cycling NSW, Goulburn Workers Junior Two Day Tour was an opportunity for the state’s best junior road racers to compete for selection on the NSW teams. It was also a chance for other junior riders with less exposure to high level competition to have a go and see how they compared to the more experienced riders.
Weather conditions were virtually perfect for the first event, the time trial on Saturday morning starting just outside of Gunning.
The fog burnt off in time for the 10am start and there was virtually no wind to hamper the younger riders.
Goulburn’s youngest rider Elsie Apps was really excited as she waited in line for the start of her time trial. Ahead of her were Maisy Cyreszko and Liam Mahon from the ETTA Club.
Many of the NSW riders and their parents had travelled considerable distances to participate in this competition and it was a relief to be greeted by fine warm weather unlike the cold damp weather last year.
Josh Deasey from Tamworth said it took his mum about eight hours to drive to Goulburn and she’d appreciated the overnight rest.
