The son of Wentworth Park track record holder Shakey Jakey and Nitro Snap jumps from box five in the Palmerbet 1-3 Wins Final (race nine, 440m) after qualifying in impressive fashion last week. Doc Martini produced a Best-of-the-Day 24.90 run to book his place in the final and extend his career record to two wins and four minor placings from nine starts. He shifts to box five this week and faces a tough field but if Doc Martini brings his form from last week, he will be hard to beat in this race. Doc Martini is trained in Sydney’s west by Edmund O’Brien, who has scored some notable wins at Goulburn this year and could be celebrating again here.
Promising newcomer Charlm Legend (box eight) has run some decent times so far and looks the biggest challenger to Doc Martini, while Big Gora (box one) was an impressive winner in last week’s heats and looks a decent value chance.
Our Equity (box three) looks the top pick in the first of four heats of the Madbookie Goulburn-Richmond Series (race five, 350m). The Jim Coleman-trained greyhound has been solid rather than spectacular recently but has won two of his six races over this trip, including a smart 19.90 win in February.
File The Writ (box three) looks one of the day’s best winning chances for Canyonleigh trainer Ruth Matic in the second heat (race six). The son of Brett Lee and Paua To Love has won on his last four visits to Goulburn, including an impressive 19.70 triumph over this trip on May 30.
Raglan Moe (box two) can enjoy a successful first visit to Goulburn in the third heat, race seven on the card. The Matt Murphy-trained greyhound was a sound winner over the 307m at Bathurst last week from this same draw and brings consistent form from country tracks.
Another Edmund O’Brien-trained greyhound, Edmunton, can salute in the fourth heat (race eight). The son of Spring Gun and Black Laurel (box seven) clocked a decent 20.20 winning on debut at Goulburn two weeks ago and a repeat should ensure another triumph.
Action in the 11-race program starts at 11.58pm.
