Mr Taylor said the Australian Government’s ‘My Aged Care’ campaign included a “one stop shop” website aimed at encouraging older Australians, their families and carers to find out about their aged care options.
“Older Australians want to live independently as long as possible,” Mr Taylor said.
“But when a health crisis or accident happens, they may suddenly find that they need help.
“It adds to the stress of what is an already stressful time.
“I encourage older Australians to talk about their personal preferences and care options with their families or a health professional at the first opportunity.
“The best place to start is the My Aged Care website myagedcare.gov.au or phone 1800 200 422.
“It’s a one stop shop, which provides information about services available in the local area, how to access them, costs and other information.”
Services include home maintenance and modifications, help with household jobs like cleaning, assistance with transport, and nursing and personal care.
“If you are finding it harder to do the things you used to do and feel you need a bit of support at home, find the help you need with My Aged Care,” Mr Taylor said.
My Aged Care brochures are also available at Mr Taylor’s electorate office on Auburn Street in Goulburn.
