The aim of the gala days that are held at each of the clubs, Cootamundra, Goulburn, Tumut, Yass and Young is to promote the team aspect of the sport and encourage the youngsters to make new friends from these towns.
The teams consist of four 10 years and under players, four 13 and under and four 16 years and under from each town.
At each gala day the players play a singles and a doubles match against a player or a doubles pair from each team. The youngsters also learn to interact with adults as part of the competition.
It is also one of the few opportunities for young players to play mixed doubles in a junior competition.
Coming up on July 3 to 6 is the Ridland Tennis junior holiday camp at the Bishop Street tennis courts.
Juniors can also play in a competition every Monday during school terms.
This presents junior players with an opportunity to be picked for future representative teams for events like the junior league.
Private and group lessons are available for juniors with Corey and Dave and adults can also take advantage of private lessons to learn to play, brush up on skills or get fit with Fitbit Cardio Tennis sessions.
