Bankstown Highway patrol officers clocked the Kenworth semi-trailer allegedly travelling at 110km/h on the Hume Highway near Marulan at 9.50am on Friday.
They directed the driver to the Heavy Vehicle Inspection Station where, with the help of the Joint Traffic Taskforce and RMS Heavy Vehicle Inspectors, the vehicle’s engine control module was downloaded.
“Issues were identified with the vehicle which allowed it to travel at a maximum speed of 114km/h,” a police spokesperson said.
The driver was issued penalty notices for class C vehicle exceed speed limit under 10km/h, vehicle not speed limiter compliant when driven on road and a work diary offence totalling $2739.
RMS Heavy Vehicle Inspectors also grounded the vehicle with a red label defect on the spot.
