A two-day training workshop is being held in Queanbeyan on July 22 and 23 and there is still time to undertake the online induction and enroll in it.
Primary Ethics provides the opportunity for NSW public primary school students who don’t attend scripture classes to participate in philosophical ethics classes. Primary Ethics employs professional experts to train and support volunteers and they would be available for you as well.
A spokesperson said the weekly lessons are scripted and easy to follow.
“It takes about 30 minutes to prepare for lessons held during school term,” the spokesperson said.
“The scripted lessons do not tell the children what to think but rather to prompt the children’s own thinking and discussion about topics such as friendship, sharing, laziness, fairness.
“You are there only to help everybody have input into the discussion. The classes teach children how to think about and discuss moral issues in a mutually respectful way. The children develop skills they can use to solve problems throughout their lives.”
