A heads up for our local road users that next month Goulburn Highway Patrol will be focusing on vehicle lights compliance, in particular headlights. A penalty of $108 applies if you have a non-functioning headlight and that is something you can avoid by regularly checking your lights.

Our vehicle’s lights are something that most people don’t pay much attention to until rego time comes back around. But our vehicle’s lights are incredibly important and something that we should check regularly.
Next time you are with a friend, partner or family member; get them to help you check all your vehicle’s lights as you operate them. It will take you no more than two minutes to run through all the lights. That way if you find a light that isn’t working, you can take steps to get it fixed quickly. If you have a garage, you can lower the garage door and use the reflection off the garage door to check all of your rear lights if there isn’t anyone around to give you a hand.
With our days becoming shorter obviously your vehicle's lighting becomes extra important so take the time to make sure they are working
With school holidays approaching, our local police will be tasked to patrol schools whilst they are closed in an effort to stop the property theft and damage that we sometimes experience during these times. With a little more idle time on their hands, kids sometimes can be tempted to do the wrong thing, so not only will we have the police patrolling schools, but also local 'hang outs' and shopping centres to make sure we keep everyone in line.
I would also urge anyone who witnesses any suspicious behaviour around schools, or any illegal behaviour or behaviour that intimidates people from anyone, not just children, to call the local police or Crimestoppers on 1800333000.
We always appreciate the help from our community, and luckily enough we have plenty of that due to our strong relationships with all the communities of the Hume LAC.
