Organiser Braydan Judd said the night would include everything from Indigenous improvisation hip-hop, to acoustic songs from local artist Polly Hazelton to some of the heaviest up and coming rhymers in the Canberra region.
Mr Judd is also DJ BeatsJ, who will be keeping the night moving and spinning tracks for the artists on the night.
“There will be an open mic chypher for the casual rhymers that want to join,” he said.
Artists appearing include: DJ BeatsJ, DarkRose, Weirdo Gang, Polly Hazelton, Aether, Sleazy S, Cappo, Creekside Theory, Anomic, Onenods, Toddla and Scarecrow.
Polly Hazelton is a 23 year old guitarist, singer and songwriter from Goulburn.
Word of the Street is Polly's first gig back in Goulburn in five years.
"I am stoked, excited and looking forward to every act of the night," she said.
Polly will also be releasing her first E.P Wolve Youth soon.
“Other locals playing on the night include Aether and Onenods and it is the first solo gigs for these acts,” Mr Judd said.
Mr Judd said Dark Rose is an Indigenous didgeridoo player and rapper from Canberra.
“I recently performed at the Street Uni in Canberra for NAIDOC Week where I saw dark Rose play. He plays dig to hip hop - he is very unique,” he said.
“He also helps out other young Indigenous blokes.”
“The man acts are Scarecrow and Toddler from Canberra. They are veterans of hip hop Canberra scene.”
Mr Judd said he would see how the night went and was keen to do more if it worked out.
“After this I would like to do another event and get young person’s cancer organisation Canteen involved. They help out Hip Hop artists a lot,” he said.
“There is no real hip hop scene here, so I have expanded to Canberra. I have been playing and attending gigs there and I have made many friends over there. I play at venues such as Low Brow and The Transit Bar - these two venues support Hip Hop.”
“I am with a group called Cutlab, which is two DJs and a beat maker. I would like to bring my passion here and see if it sparks anything.”
Sound is being produced by local sound guy Marky McCool and entry costs $5 on the door.
“This is affordable but hopefully still give something to the artists,” he said.
“Thanks to Ron McLaughlin at the Goulburn Club for supporting this event. The Goulburn Club is a fantastic venue.”
The night runs from 6.30pm until late.
