COFFEE WITH A COP
Residents turned out in force to have coffee with a cop on Friday at the Taralga Hotel. Mary, the new publican, supplied some freshly baked scones.
Our local policeman, Senior Constable Brad Jones, was supported by four ‘cops’ from Goulburn and two from Crookwell, Inspector Jason Horn and Scott McWilson, who attended in their own time. Inspectors Scott Hunter, Chad Gillies, Jason Montomery and Senior Constable Donavan travelled from Goulburn.
The chance to ask questions and get to know the friendly men was welcomed by those present. The brightly coloured ‘sponsored’ Holden from Geisler Motors also drew admiration.

A belated congratulations to Thelma McPaul who turned 96 years young on June 24. We have four women in the village who have achieved 90 years or more!
GARDEN CLUB CHRISTMAS
Thirty four members of the Garden Club exchanged a wonderful variety of gifts at the annual Christmas in July meeting on Thursday at The Club. A tempting morning tea was followed by the exchange of presents. A beautifully presented Christmas Dinner was enjoyed before questions were asked regarding the night away. No decision was made on the query of one night or two.
The next meeting will be a bus trip to Bowning where a visit will be made to the historic Mayfield Mews. Here can be found antiques, a nursery, also a variety of shops to interest most. It is said that Henry Lawson and Banjo Patterson drank in the Commercial Hotel there. Lunch can be in Bowning or a move made to Yass – a decision will be made on the day. The trip will cost $35 for the bus fare. Everything else will be at your own expense. The bus will leave the Club at 8am and the Goulburn Visitors Centre at 8.30am. It is necessary to have names in before July 20.
Do You Know?
The bathtub planter in front of The Tangled Vine was upended on the footpath recently. The soil was left there for the takeaway owners to clean up while the bathtub was stolen. It is a shame that an attempt to beautify the street was ruined. Any information regarding the theft of the bathtub would be appreciated.
