PAC ruling
It’s likely that by the time you read this column the Joint Regional Planning Panel will have made a decision on the development application for the Performing Arts Centre. The JRPP is meeting in the Council Chambers today at 10.30am to consider a recommendation for approval for the adaptive re-use of the McDermott Centre for a 400-seat centre.

It’s great to be able to now let the community know we have secured $3 million in grant funding for the project, and have secured consent from the Office of Environment and Heritage for excavation works.
We will now work with the Hon Pru Goward MP with an application to the NSW Government Regional Cultural Fund, where we will be seeking a further $3 million grant funding. I am positive about Thursday’s JRPP meeting, and excited for the future of Goulburn Mulwaree; the result of the meeting will be on the Council Facebook on Thursday and I am sure it will be in Friday’s Goulburn Post.
Council meeting
The agenda for next week’s council meeting will be available on our website on Friday as per usual; this week’s is not quite as long as last Tuesday’s, however there are still a number of important issues to consider:
- Signing a memorandum of understanding showing support for CLARA’s high speed rail proposal.
- Considering an upgrade of the Goulburn Marketplace car park that will include closure of part of Clinton Lane.
- A grant application to the NSW Government Stronger Communities Fund. The recommendation is to put forward the Wollondilly Walking Track and implementation of the Victoria Park Master Plan, with the WWT as our priority.
National Tree Day
National Tree Day is this Sunday, July 30; we will be planting hundreds of trees at the Lisgar Street drainage reserve. This year I’m going to be joined by the Hon Angus Taylor MP, and we would love to see a huge number of community members young and old on the day.
Come along at 9am. There’ll be a free BBQ and water for all participants on the day, and this is a great chance to do something for the local environment.
