The blustery conditions were hardly conducive to good football, but the Strikers were keen to score another win and keep their slim semi-final chances alive.
During the first half, both sides had chances, but no one could find a gap between the keepers and the net.
If anything, the Strikers had the better level of possession, but were unable to do anything positive, even from free kicks or corners; not until early in the second half, when Eric Noheli found the net after missing on an earlier attempt.
With the point against them, Brindabella lifted and found a way past Strikers keeper Justin Daly. The goal was attributed to Adrian Russo.
With only minutes left in the game, it was Joel Baird who slotted the winning shot for the Strikers after the keeper had deflected one shot.
Next Saturday is the Strikers’ final chance for points and, if all the other games go the right way, a chance at the finals. The division one side faces Belconnen at 3pm in Scullin, ACT. Belconnen are sitting in third position on the ladder.
