Mayoral Minute with CR Bob Kirk | August 10

Council meeting

At the council meeting to be held next Tuesday, August 15 we will be considering a number of important issues: a development application for a 112 lot staged subdivision on 153 Taralga Road, Goulburn; a development application for demolition of dwellings and existing structures and four erection of multi-dwelling housing (four houses); a draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan; and the Smart City Strategy.

Country University Centre proposal

The Goulburn Country University Centre has now been incorporated as a public company limited by guarantee – which allows us to move forward into the nitty gritty of our proposal.

We are further along the way in our negotiations for our preferred location for the University Centre, which is within the TAFE Goulburn Campus. The board of directors will now begin to work on our proposal for funding, which will go to Country University Centres for a decision – this group is investigating options for centres around  NSW and they have been very positive about the Goulburn effort.

If we are successful in our funding application we will move onto advertising for a centre manager for the project, and begin to market and promote the centre in the lead up to 2018!

Charity Golf Day

I’d like to thank Holcim who have again thrown their support behind the Mayoral Charity Golf Day for a further four years as the major sponsor. Without a major sponsor we simply could not run this great event, which in 2016 raised over $15,000 for local charities. I’d also like to thank the Goulburn Soldiers Club who has generously come on board as Silver Sponsor.

COME OUT SWINGING: Holcim Sydney aggregates manager Peter Lawlor, Goulburn Soldiers Club general manager Toni Mitchell (Silver Sponsor) with Cr Bob Kirk.

This year’s Golf Day will take place on Friday, November 24. The beneficiaries will be the Challenge Foundation, Goulburn Uniting Church Drop-in Centre and the Goulburn Loco Roundhouse Preservation Society.

The day features a four person Ambrose competition over 18 holes, with a shotgun start. Cost is $35 per player, which includes green fees and a BBQ lunch. To sponsor the day, or enter a team, please contact Tracey on 4823 4510.
