The money is provided through the Floodplain Grants Scheme, jointly funded by the Commonwealth-State National Partnership Agreement on National Disaster Resilience.
It is one of 28 NSW council projects to share in the $5.9 million pot. Yass Valley also received $80,000. Goulburn MP Pru Goward said flooding could occur rapidly and leave communities shattered in its wake.
“It is important the community works together to ensure we are prepared and ready to manage future flooding events,” she said. The council will use the funds to update the floodplain risk management study and plan, then investigate viable flood management measures, considering social and economic factors.
