This year the Book Fair will have over 30,000 books on offer with book prices ranging from $2 to $5 each.
It’s a great annual event that many people wait for to obtain and also donate books.
The club was initially having difficulty sourcing a venue, but club president Bill Brodie said this had now been resolved
Mr Brodie said the Book Fair is always well attended by locals, and normally raises over $10,000.
“All of this money, together with other money raised during the year, is then donated to charities,” Mr Brodie said.
This year the club’s venue for the Book Fair is the former Divall’s Fruit Shop on Bourke Street, next to the Fire Station.
The Book Fair will run from September 18 until October 1.
“We will not be accepting donations until it opens on September 18,” he said.
“But once we are open donations of books will be kindly accepted.”
“The club works hard during the year to raise the funds necessary to support the programs and organisations that make a difference to our community, whether it is the local, national or international community.
“This year the club gave out donations of $38,750 to local, national and international projects and organisations. Of this, $16,800 was allocated to the Goulburn Region.”
He said major donations went to Endeavour Industries, Angels for the Forgotten, the Goulburn Conservatorium Choir and the Goulburn Loco Roundhouse Preservation Society.
“Other local groups that received donations included bush fire brigades, local schools and the Salvation Army,” he said.
“Anyone who wants to volunteer their time to assist us can contact us via the website.”
