A win on Friday night puts them straight into the grand final for the Katrina Fanning Shield; a loss puts them into the preliminary final against the winner of Yass Magpies and Valley Dragons.
On Wednesday night Goulburn’s leading kicker Lauren Kelly was awarded the Golden Boot as the top point scorer of the Katrina Fanning competition.
Her 10 tries and 37 goals put her 22 points ahead of her nearest rival Sarah Carter from Queanbeyan United.
A win in Friday night’s game is going to be a big ask for the Goulburn girls who have several players out with injuries but they are a team that can put together a good performance and will have confidence in each other’s ability. Spectator support will also help Goulburn to push United.
Goulburn’s other finals hopefuls at the senior end of the Canberra Region Rugby League competition are the under 18s and the Women’s League Tag teams.
The boys finished fourth on the ladder and face third placed West Belconnen Warriors at the Raiders field Belconnen at 11.45am on Sunday in a sudden-death encounter.
The league tag Bulldogs women finished third and have to win their game on Sunday at 10.30am also at Belconnen against fourth placed Belconnen United Sharks.
