A new outdoor gym area has been installed at Marsden Weir, overlooking the Wollondilly River and the Goulburn Historic Waterworks.
Equipment is based around a number of body weight exercise stations, such as pull up bars, a push-up station, box jump station and an elliptical machine.
The exercise area cost less than $40,000 and is the first to be installed along the Wollondilly River Walkway, with more planned for it in the future.
Mayor Bob Kirk said it was part of a continued push to create community spaces that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
“We are making a strong effort to improve our parks and community green spaces, and as part of this we want to create areas where both parents and kids can exercise," Mayor Kirk said.
“A walk along the river walkway could now be completed with a workout for mum and dad at the outdoor gym, while the kids play on the equipment just a few metres away.”
In April this year Council also installed new play equipment in Garfield Park, West Goulburn.
The projects have been well-received by the general public with many taking to the Goulburn Mulwaree Council Facebook page to express their praise.
Work will also soon begin on the Adventure Playground in Victoria Park, with equipment currently on order from as far as Germany. The Adventure Playground will be completed within the 2017/18 Financial Year.
