Last weekend the Goulburn girls had five goals to nil against Daramalan College. In the regular season Daramalan finished third on the ladder and Goulburn second. Leading the competition with 10 wins, one loss and a draw was Uni Juniors/Central, one win ahead of Goulburn in the 12-game competition. Goulburn's strength, according to captain Emma Baxter, is the way the girls have continued to improve and work together as a team not as individuals throughout the season.
Goulburn men had a three goals to nil win against Western District last Saturday, which put them up against Old Canberrans. These two teams have proved to be very competitive throughout the State League division one season. They have both produced some very exciting hockey and are fierce rivals on the field. Goulburn is very strong defensively and as their team chosen name Geckos suggests, stealthful in attack with a strong midfield to transition the ball. Goulburn is evenly matched with minor premiers, Old Canberrans, so expect a fast but controlled game with no quarter given.
